Preble County Auditor Lavon Wright, is reminding dog owners that 2023 Dog Licenses go on sale December 1, 2022 and the renewal period runs through January 31, 2023. Dog licenses are $14.00 each and are valid for all of 2023. After January 31, 2023, there is a late penalty to purchase the license. Anyone who “owns, keeps, or harbors a dog” is required by state law to purchase a license.
The Preble County Auditor’s Office located on the 2nd floor of the courthouse in Eaton will have license available. One year ($14), Three year ($42), Permanent ($140) and Kennel ($70/5 tags and $1.00 for each additional tag) license are also available. Office hours are 8-4 Monday through Friday. During the renewal period there are several sites throughout the county that will also have 1 (one) year dog license for sale. Those businesses may charge a preparation fee of $ .75 per application. The sites are: Eaton – Dog Warden, Town & Country Vet Clinic, Brubaker Grain, Creature Comforts Vet Clinic, License Bureau, Lakengren POA/ Gratis – Twin Valley Bank/ Camden – Somerville Bank/ West Alexandria – Twin Valley Bank, Twin Valley Animal Hospital/ Lewisburg – LCNB, Farmer’s State Bank, / New Paris – Farmer’s State Bank
The Preble County Auditor is beginning the process of a state mandated (ORC 5713.01 (B)) reappraisal of all properties. The reappraisal is a two-year process with new values being established for tax year 2023, for taxes payable in 2024. Beginning in October 2021 and running through the end of 2022 there will be photographers obtaining photos for use in the reappraisal process. These photos are for in office use only. These individuals will be working on behalf of the Preble County Auditor’s office, but are employed by Appraisal Research Corporation. They will be identified with badges, safety vests, and car signs. The photographer’s will be following recommendations from the CDC and Ohio Health Department while also practicing social distancing protocols. Questions should be directed to the Preble County Auditor’s office at 937-456-8148 between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.
